MANE & TAILL offers lessons, day programs, summer day camps and horsemanship training to individuals with disabilities. Group offerings for schools and other organizations are also available based on needs in the community. Equine Facilitate Learning is also provided after school for children who would benefit.

Children with special needs and their siblings can participate in MANE & TAILL’s summer day camps. Participants learn horsemanship and horseback riding from a PATH certified instructor and trained volunteers as well as make crafts and play games with peers in a safe, nurturing environment. Adolescents 11 years or older can enroll in camps that also incorporate Equine Facilitated Learning activities led by a PATH instructor and a therapist.

MANE & TAILL provides Special Olympics training at its Currituck and Elizabeth City locations. Children (over the age of 8) and adults with developmental disabilities can train with the equestrian team over the summer and compete annually, either locally or at the North Carolina Special Olympics Equestrian Competition in Raleigh.

Programs are offered for a small fee and the Special Olympics program is free of charge to the athletes. Scholarships are available.
